IDIDIT Column Disassembly Notes

1.) Remove the snap ring.

2.) Once the snap ring is removed the horn button will be able to be pulled free.

3.) Remove the three black allen head screws holding the wiring / turn signal harness in place.

4.) CAREFULLY remove the harness. Pay special attention to the wires as they are pulled free so that they are not clipped.

5.) Remove the three silver star head screws holding the bell in place.

6.) Remove the bell.

7.) Using a screwdriver, gently press down on the tilt mechanism arm mount to release it. (Image A)

8.) Use a phillips head screwdriver to press and rotate the square slot holding the tilt spring assembly in place.

9.) Using a screwdriver, gently press down on the tilt mechanism arm mount and re straighten the column.

10.) Use a 8/32” x 1 1/2” coarse thread screw to gently pull the two center pins free. A nail puller can be used to do this. (Image B)

11.) Press down on the tilt mechanism arm mount again and it will come free and can be removed.

12.) Remove the shaft from the column.

13.) Remove the 4 star head screws holding the inner tilt housing in place. 

14.) Remove the inner tilt housing.

15.) Assemble in reverse order.
